Job Opening: Field Coordinator (Forestry Fire and State Lands)

Job Description:
Are you seeking a diverse and challenging role in field work and public land management, with a passion for restoring native vegetation and habitat? Do you possess a broad skill set including GIS, budget management, environmental field work, equipment repair, crew supervision, and project oversight? The Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands is hiring a Field Coordinator to lead field work projects and support public land management.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee vegetation treatments. 
  • Organize, purchase, repair, and maintain field equipment. 
  • Oversee field crews and assist with small property management. 
  • Apply advanced and/or specialized knowledge of agency, interagency, and industry business practices to implement and guide vegetation and habitat restoration projects on public lands.
  • Identify needs and prioritize cooperative efforts.
  • Make recommendations for the prioritization of funds, implement budgets, track allocations, and expenditures for an annual budget for vegetation control and restoration.
  • Supervise staff or volunteers, including hiring assistance, workload prioritization, delegation, and training. 
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, evaluate performance, and promote or pursue approved employee development opportunities to build agency depth.
