Rachel joined the staff of the commission in October 2022 as the Communications and Outreach Manager. She brings a diverse background of experience that has made her a valuable addition to the team. She was born and raised in the heart of Salt Lake City. In her youth she participated in programs that brought her down to the Jordan River, including learning how to canoe, and she is excited to be bringing the next generation to the river and giving them the same types of experiences she had.
Rachel graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture and a minor in Ornamental Horticulture and worked several years for a local planning and design firm. She had another connection to the Jordan River at this time, when she worked on Salt Lake County’s Jordan River Master Plan. She has spent the better part of the last 20 years working and volunteering in the public sector with various educational organizations, and public entities, where she has been able to craft and hone her skills in communications and outreach.
As the Communications and Outreach Manager for the Jordan River Commission, Rachel helps facilitate news and information for the many entities tied to the Jordan River Commission through the website, newsletter and social media, so please email or contact her with any news or feedback that you have. She loves being a part of the Jordan River team and working to educate and activate our community around the River.
