The Jordan River Commission is pleased to share that we were just awarded a new $50,000 grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
The Five-Star Restoration Grant will help to clean-up and restore a stormwater detention pond in West Valley City. The project will help to clean the water before it enters the Jordan River and beautify the area for the community. The site will also become an outdoor classroom for University of Utah Civil and Environmental Engineering students studying water quality management, and secondary students from Hunter High School as they participate in an 8-week curriculum about the Jordan River led by the Center for Documentary Expression and Art.
Project partners include:
- West Valley City Public Works
- Granite School District
- University of Utah, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Utah Water Watch
- Utah Division of Water Quality
- Adjacent neighborhoods
