Adaptations & Native Species of Utah
Learn about how birds’ beaks have adapted over time to their specific environments and food sources. We’ll try using different types of “beaks” to pick up different types of “food”. How much each type of food were you able to collect using the different beak shapes? We’ll record our findings in a chart and talk about why a bird might have a certain shape of beak.
Next, we will explore the Jordan River corridor in a guided eco-walk. Students will look for evidence of different birds and their habitats as we explore the Jordan River Parkway. Looking through real binoculars, we’ll try to spot common plants and animals with the help of a field guide, and all our observations will be recorded in a class journal.
