Lehi City Day of Service – Puncturevine Removal

September 13 at 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Hosted by Lehi City

Help protect our parks, trails, and native landscapes by removing invasive goathead (puncturevine) weeds! These thorny plants cause painful punctures to bike tires, pet paws, and bare feet. Each weed can produce up to 2000 spiky seeds on each plant. Volunteers will work together to spot and remove plants before they spread further. Plants can be removed easily, but leather gloves are best to use to protect hands.

This is a great project for individuals, families, or youth groups who want to make a visible and lasting impact in our community. Unite with community members on the National Day of Service.

All ages welcome! Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Time Commitment: 2 hours preferred, 1 hour minimum.

Training: Brief instruction will be provided on how to identify and safely remove the plants.

What to Wear: Long pants, sturdy shoes. Consider sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen).

What to Bring: We have a good number of weeding tools and buckets but you can bring a small shovel or weeding tool if you have one, and a labeled 5- gallon bucket. We will provide bags to dump the weeds into.
