What is a Bird Walk?
Tracy Aviary’s team visits Breeding Season Survey study sites year-round to see what’s happening with birds during the months when they are not breeding and raising chicks. These surveys are less formal than those conducted during the spring and summer months. Instead of visiting specific points and conducting a six-minute observation, participants will stroll through the area and keep a tally of the birds they see and hear.
Consider this a birding training ground! These outings are open to birders of all experience levels and are a great opportunity to keep your birding skills sharp, continue learning bird identification, and observe bird activity that may not be as easy to see during the spring and summer.
No binoculars? No problem! Tracy Aviary will have binoculars available to borrow. Please bring water, a hat, and your curiosity!
After you sign up, Tracy Aviary will send you an email the day before the program with directions on where to meet and instructions on what to bring. For questions, contact Tracy Aviary at conservation@tracyaviary.org.
These outings are intended for adults and adolescents ages 14 and up. Registration closes 24 hours before the event.
