H2Oquirrh Watershed Plan

Project Overview

The H2Oquirrh Vision Plan is a comprehensive regional framework designed to guide sustainable growth and land use on the western bench of the Salt Lake Valley, specifically near the Oquirrh Mountains. Developed as a collaborative effort by Salt Lake County and surrounding municipalities, the plan prioritizes “integrated water management” to ensure that future residential and commercial development remains viable in a high-desert climate. By focusing on water-wise landscaping, transit-oriented infrastructure, and the preservation of critical open spaces and wildlife corridors, the plan aims to balance rapid population expansion with environmental stewardship, providing a roadmap for creating walkable, resilient communities that protect the region’s limited natural resources.
