Salt Lake County Watershed Restoration and Planning is please to announce the availability of a new Stream Care Guide: A Handbook for Residents of Salt Lake County. This 58-page guide examines the basics of protecting water quality, creating streamside habitat, and preventing flood damage. Streams are dynamic ecosystems that provide water resources, floodwater pathways, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities. The healthier our streams, the better able they are to provide all of these important functions.

Several of the stream care practices discussed in the guide are specific to streamside landscapes, but most are relevant to everylandscape. We hope the guide will be a used as an informational resource, as well as one that motivates and inspires residents to identify and implement solutions in their own backyards. Whatever the scale, every bit of stream care helps.

As a targeted mailing, we will be sending the guide to streamside residents of Salt Lake County in the next week.

If you would like copies of the Stream Care Guide, please contact Lynn at lberni@slco.org.
